ग्रामीण साहू समाज के अध्यक्ष राजेन्द्र साहू ने कहा कि दिवंगत ताराचंद साहू का जन्म 1 जनवरी 1947 को हुआ था। उन्होंने छत्तीसगढ़ के दुर्ग लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से कई बार सांसद बनकर का प्रतिनिधित्व किया। राजनीतिक पद रहते हुए उन्होंने स्थानीय समाजों को आगे बढ़ाने, समाजिक एकता और शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में कई महत्वपूर्ण कार्य किए है। श्री साहू सभी समाजों को संजोकर रखते हुए विकास कार्य कराए। छत्तीसगढ़िया स्वाभिमान और अस्मिता के लिए कई कार्य किए है। सांसद पद पर रहने के दौरान वे लगातार ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों का दौरा करते हुए गांव के लोगों को शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य प्रति जागरूक करने में हमेशा तत्पर रहते थे।
दयाराम एवं विजय साहू ने स्व. ताराचंद साहू के कार्यो को स्मरण करते हुए कहा कि साफ सुथरी स्वच्छ छवि वाले नेता के रूप में उन्होंने अपनी पहचान बनाई थी। छत्तीसगढ़ीया नेता के प्रभाव को राज्य की राजनीति में लाने में उनकी अहम भूमिका रही थी। छत्तीसगढ़ी स्वाभिमान की अलख को जगाने का बड़ा काम स्वर्गीय ताराचंद साहू ने किया। जयंती कार्यक्रम में फुदुकराम, राधेश्याम, डोहर लाल, दामोदर, घांसी राम, विभीषण, ढालसिंह एवं नंदकुमार साहू सहित बड़ी संख्या में ग्रामीण एवं परिक्षेत्र के समाज के समाज के लोग उपस्थित थे।
