अमेरिका की फोर्ड मोटर कंपनी और भारत की महिंद्रा एंड महिंद्रा ने ज्वाइंट वेंचर खत्म करने की घोषणा की है। दोनों कंपनियों ने इसके लिए कोविड-19 महामारी के कारण उपजी चुनौतियों को वजह बताया है। दोनों कंपनियों ने इस बारे में अलग-अलग बयान जारी किए हैं। इसमें कहा गया है कि बीते सवा साल में ग्लोबल आर्थिक परिस्थितियों में जो बदलाव हुए हैं, उन्हें देखते हुए पूंजी खर्च करने की प्राथमिकताओं पर दोबारा विचार करने पर मजबूर होना पड़ा है।

फोर्ड प्रवक्ता टी.आर. रीड ने कहा, “ग्लोबल आर्थिक परिस्थितियां और बिजनेस का वातावरण अब वैसा नहीं रहा, जैसा पिछले साल अक्टूबर में था।” अक्टूबर 2019 में ही दोनों कंपनियों ने ज्वाइंट वेंचर बनाने की घोषणा की थी। इसके लिए दोनों के बीच जो समझौता हुआ था, उसके मुताबिक कंपनियों को ज्वाइंट वेंचर को 31 दिसंबर 2020 तक अंतिम रूप देना था। लेकिन कंपनियों ने समझौते को अंतिम रूप देने के बजाय उसे खत्म करने का फैसला किया है।
यूटिलिटी और इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल डेवलप करने की थी योजना
अक्टूबर 2019 में समझौते के बाद फोर्ड और महिंद्रा ने कहा था कि गाड़ियां तैयार करने का खर्च घटाने और विकासशील देशों में उन्हें बेचने के लिए ज्वाइंट वेंचर बनाया जाएगा। तब उन्होंने कहा था कि मिड-साइज एसयूवी समेत तीन यूटिलिटी व्हीकल लांच किए जाएंगे। इसके अलावा इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल्स को मिलकर डेवलप किया जाएगा। यह पूछने पर कि क्या अब उन गाड़ियों का प्रोजेक्ट रद्द कर दिया गया है, रीड ने कहा कि अभी इस बारे में कुछ नहीं कहा जा सकता है। रीड ने स्पष्ट किया कि भारत में फोर्ड का अलग से बिजनेस पहले की तरह जारी रहेगा। महिंद्रा ने कहा कि ज्वाइंट वेंचर टूटने का उसके प्रोडक्ट प्लान पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ेगा। इलेक्ट्रिक एसयूवी डेवलप करने की कोशिशों में वह और तेजी लाएगी।
